Setting a shiny new goal always brings in some serious motivation. If you’re anything like us, the beginning part of goal-setting is always the exciting part. You reflect on where you want to be in the future, perhaps the next month, quarter, or year, then get to it.
But then…you run into those days that aren’t so shiny, so easy breezy. Those days where the inspiration and the motivation start to get a little murky. Do you ever wonder why your goals tend to fade easily?
It has nothing to do with your willpower, desire, or drive. It’s because we tend to focus on the goal itself instead of the actual process of achieving that goal. The process, those tiny daily steps and habits that add up to the goal, is the most important part.
The days where you feel like you’re just going through the daily grind, with no clear focus? Those are the days that showing up is the most important part.
Despite those crunchy feelings, you show up anyway, and you meet yourself where you’re at. Hey you know what, today might not be the peppiest of days but if you’re still showing up, you’re meeting yourself where you’re at. That’s a practice in itself, and that’s all part of the process.
